| Description: | Berks Visiting Nurse Association has immediate openings for three (3) full time Physical Therapy Assistants to function under the license of a Physical Therapist and performs direct service to clients for whom physical therapy procedures have been medically prescribed as directed by the Licensed Physical Therapist including teaching physical therapy procedures to a client and/or family member; instructing client and/or family member in supportive activities to be carried out between visits; and conferring periodically with the licensed physical therapist regarding the client’s progress. Other duties include maintaining required records and reports using laptop computers, assisting when the program permits and with medical approval, physical therapy procedures and/or supportive measures on selected clients to the staff nurses and home health aides; and participating in a team relationship with all staff regarding all the aspects of the client’s care. REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy association, or meets other requirements recommended by the American Physical Therapy Association and requirements as outlined in the Federal Health Insurance for the Aged (conditions of participation). Eligible for membership in the American Physical Therapy Association. Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist Assistant as issued by Pennsylvania State Board, Indirect Supervision License required but Organization will obtain and pay for license on behalf of qualified applicants. Experience utilizing a laptop/desktop computer for client documentation; ability to cope with occupational hazards such as exposure to contagious diseases, extreme weather conditions, domestic pets and dilapidated residences; knowledge in the practice, techniques, literature, and new developments in the field of physical therapy; knowledge of effective consultative processes and ability to use them effectively; ability to assist in training and instructing registered nurses, student nurses, home health aides, and others in the principles and practices of physical therapy relative to the total rehabilitation of a client. |
